Caring for your candles

Candle Care

Looking after your candle

  • The first time you burn your candle try to burn it for at least two hours or until  the top layer of the wax melts fully across the surface of the container
  • Always trim the wick down to around 5mm after each burn, this helps to prevent sooting and stops the flame from getting too high.  It also prevents the wick from bending and causing your candle to burn unevenly.
  • Never burn your candle for more than 4-5 hours at a time as this may cause soot to build up and may overheat the jar
  • Always use a snuffer or tool to extinguish your cande rather than blowing as this may cause the hot wax to spray
  • Always place your candle on a firm surface away from flammable objects
  • Never place a candle within reach of children
  • Always protect your surfaces from the heat of the candle
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Always extinguish a candle before moving it
  • Always leave at least 1cm of wax in the bottom of the container.
  • Never burn your candle until there is no wax left as this may cause the jar to overheat
