About us

Aldeburgh Botanic uses biodegradable and compostable rapeseed wax to carefully hand-pour our container candles, tea lights and wax melts.  Rapeseed is an amazing sustainable wax made from crops grown locally which in turn reduces the carbon footprint of our candles. The stunning bright yellow fields of rapeseed flowers found across East Anglia are loved by bees, re-invigorates fields with nutrients and the wax is both animal and environmentally friendly. Some other plant waxes are made from plants grown overseas and the raw materials may have travelled long distances before reaching your home.

The glorious fragrances you enjoy in our candles are made from high quality oils sourced and blended in the UK and Europe. This enables us to produce consistently strong smelling candles with a low carbon footprint.  The packaging and labels we use are made from recycled and recyclable materials and are also sourced in the UK.  In addition, our diffusers are made from materials that are registered with the Vegan Society and we also use eco-friendly reeds.

Our candle jars come with a close fitting wooden lid and we hope that you will find ways to reuse them rather than throw them away - although, being made of glass, they are also recyclable.  For example, they make great bathroom jars and mini plant pots.  We'd love to hear how you are reusing our jars.  Post your photos on instagram and remember to tag us at instagram.com/aldeburgh_botanic.

While these raw materials cost a little more, they are an important factor in reducing Aldeburgh Botanic's impact on the environment. We hope you'll agree, and will love our scented candles and diffusers that don't cost the earth.
